Leela Longson
As long as I can remember I have been fascinated with other cultures, and have taken every chance I could to travel and weave my interest into my life. I’ve gotten the most inspiration from playing African music and learning Spanish, both of which taught me a lot about myself and different ways to view community. I’ve gravitated toward visiting places that are very different from my home, because instinctively I’ve felt that the experience of being a fish out of water means you have to develop a way to breath the new air.
The last time I traveled, I realized that I wanted to do more than visit and consume, that I wanted to be in service to the people I visit. I’ve held this vision hoping that the opportunity would present itself. What I love about the idea of doing acupuncture in Nepal is that with little steps it helps build community in the world. There are too many influences damaging community right now. I’m so delighted to be able to share what I’ve learned about acupuncture in this way. With very little we’re able to give a lot.
It is the realization of a dream for me that this project exists. I can’t wait to be part of it.
Admin note: Leela is now practicing at Confluence Clinic in Portland Oregon.
