Alison Loercher
I have been interested in both helping others and travel ever since I can remember, and started volunteering summers away from home as a teenager. Acupuncture has given me a way to merge these two interests in a way that makes me feel both thankful and productive. I revel in new cultures, new people and languages, something that I fear is rapidly disintegrating as the world becomes more and more globalized.
I am excited to be a part of this multi-cultural exchange, bringing Chinese medicine to Nepalese people through myself, an American woman. The human condition is extraordinary and I love to see both how different and how similar people can be, from other people and even within ourselves. This is why I find acupuncture so breathtaking, because it treats the whole person while treating the disease. It simultaneously treats our similarities and differences, parts we are aware of and parts we are not. To share this gift of a medicine with a culture that is new for me will be a welcome challenge.
I feel blessed to be volunteering with the Acupuncture Relief Project, and thank you for your interest.
Admin note: Alison is now practicing at Serendipity Acupuncture and Herbs in Portland Oregon.
